How To Earn Money with Google Adsense

by Suzann Kale

It's truly a fabulous idea. And I'm not selling anything. I love Google adsense, and here's why:

You sign up for an account. Go to their homepage (www.google.com), and at the bottom in small letters you'll see a link for "Advertising Programs." Click on that, and follow the wizard to get your publisher's number and options for advertising.

Here's how it works. You have to have a site already in existence. (And that's not to say you can't create a site right now, or create a blog on Blogger.) You go to Google Adsense and create an account. Very easy The "Wizard" takes you though it.

After the Wizard is done, you can simply copy and paste your advertising script into your website. You might have to experiment a little to get it into the place on your website where you want it.

Once the script is in your HTML, you're golden. Ads will appear on your website, sponsored and maintained by Google, and every time someone clicks on one of those ads, you make from a few cents to a few dollars.

So the thing is, you've got to get people to your website. You must have a compelling website and be knowledgeable about how to get traffic to your site. Join forums, join online communities, make yourself known. Use a link to your site as your signature.

Be very careful, however, not to click on your own Adsense ads on your site. That's the quickest and easiest way to get kicked out of the program. And because we're in the age of lord knows who knows what about us, be sure to tell your friends NOT to click on your Adsense ads. Somehow Google knows, I don't know how, maybe it's a zip code thing, who knows. But if too many people in the same area click on your Adsense ads, it raises red flags for the Google people. So just tell them not to do it.

Once you have Google adsense on your blog or website, then here it is: the more people that visit your site, the more chance you have of making money.

So it's logical to say: keep your site fresh and exciting. Update your site or blog often (Google likes things that are updated often), and work to get a following of some kind, so you get a lot of traffic to your site.

It's great way to make money because it allows you to concentrate on your blog or site, and Google takes care of the advertising, the bookkeeping, and they will send you checks if you get enough people clicking on your Google ads.

I love this set-up, and I'm working with it every day to improve my traffic and my CTR (click-through-rate). It's fun, and it can be quite profitable.

I'm not saying it's the cat's total meow. You have to know how to drive traffic to your site. (I'll cover that in another blog..) And it may take awhile to build up a following of enough people to make your Adsense worthwhile.

The good news here is that this is not a "get-rich-quick-scheme." It's a real, viable advertising program that can work.

Google is also very good with support, faqs, site analysis, etc. They want you to do well!

So if you have a blog or website that you feel might appeal to a lot of people, Adsense may be a way to earn money through it. It's worth checking out because it costs nothing to you, the publisher.
