Product Reviews: Face Creams and Specialty Potions

Avalon Organics co-enzyme Q10 skin care Wrinkle Defense Night Cream: Light-weight, can be used under makeup or at night. Sinks in fast. I use it at night over my regular moisturizer. I'm not noticing my crepe neck disappearing, but I think that's a separate issue. Store the bottle upside down, and the pump dispenser will work better.

Earth Science Almond-Aloe Moisturizer spf 15: Very rich, but it soaks in nicely. Left my skin velvety. I like it.

Earth Science Apricot Intensive Night Creme: I put it on at night and could feel a real difference the next day in the softness of the skin on my face. It's heavy, so leave a little extra time to let it soak in. Unlike some other face creams, this one can be used around the eyes.

MyChelle Serious Hyaluronic Firming Serum: I used it on my neck and on facial wrinkles, and I like it. Went through 2 bottles of it. I may get more, but it's a little expensive. What I think it does is intensify the moisture that the skin can hold.

MyChelle Oil Free Grapefruite Cream: Although it says "cream," it's packaged like their other serums, and I used it sparingly on the "t-zone." It was fine, but I'm not buying another jar. It wasn't extraordinary. (But then, what oil-free cream is, really.)

MyChelle NoTox Anti-Wrinkle Serum: Of all the MyChelle serums I've tried, I like this one the best. I think I see a difference in fine lines, and even some deeper wrinkles. It can be used sparingly, making the serum last quite a while.

MyChelle Supreme Polypeptide Cream: This is a jar rather than a serum, but I used it only on neck and specific wrinkles, again because it's expensive. The cream is soft and luxurious and soaks in (so you don't look greasy). I didn't notice any huge difference in my wrinkles, and I went through an entire jar. I liked it as a general night cream, though.

Eucerin Redness Relief Soothing Moisture Lotion SPF 15: Oh my goodness, do I love this stuff. It's my favorite day cream so far. Feels luscious putting it on, soaks in quickly, but leaves my face feeling good all day.

Eucerin Extra Protective Moisture Lotion SPF30: I thought I'd never find a facial moisturizer with a high SPF that I could still put makeup over. I was wrong. This stuff is so light-weight that it doesn't interfere with makeup at all. Amazing.

Review Face Creams Eucerin Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Sensitive Skin Creme: Buttery rich and thick, this is lovely night cream. My skin is velvety in the morning. Since it takes a while for it to sink into the skin, though, I don't use it as a day cream.

Mary Kay Enriched Moisturizer Formula 1: I wanted a plain, inexpensive, non-SPF daytime moisturizer for dry skin. This one is perfect. I plan to always have a bottle of this on hand at all times. Sometimes you just don't want to mess with a lot of layers and spot wrinkle reducing, you just want to wash your face and slather on moisturizer so you can get on with your day. It will probably be a little too rich for oily skin.

Mary Kay TimeWise Night Solution Gel Facial:I like gels. I put them on after removing makeup and before applying moisturizers. Night Solution is non-oily, so I can put it over my whole face - but usually I spot apply it just to wrinkles.

Rare Minerals Sleep Revival Treatment - Night (by Bare Escentuals): I use "light" (it comes in different shades) and spot apply with a medium-stiff brush. I apply to just-washed t-zone, to lines around the mouth. Sowetimes put a dab on cheek discolorations. Honestly, I'm not sure what it does, but I like it; it's calming.

Luxiva Firming Neck and Chest Creme (by Merle Norman): This has been on my night stand, on and off, for at least 10 years. I'll go through a jar and forget to get more, and then my neck will frighten me and I'll remember. This light-weight violet-colored cream seems, to my eyes, to actually work.

Luxiva Shine Control Hydrator (by Merle Norman): Excellent if you want the benefits of moisturizer without the hassle of more oil. It's great for under makeup, especially minerals, because it creates a light, smooth surface.

Avon's Anew Clinical Advanced Wrinkle Corrector: Sinks into skin quickly. It doesn't seem to be a moisturizer, per se, but rather a repair cream. If you're skin is dry, you'll want to apply your regular moisturizer over it.

Avon's Anew Clinical Deep Crease Concentrate with Bo-HyluroxTM: Oh my gosh. I am actually seeing those forehead wrinkles diminishing, and the nose to mouth wrinkles starting to soften. This is awesome stuff.

Laura Mercier night nutrition renewal creme for very dry and dehydrated skin: My neck thanks you, Laura, and the little lines on my face are soooo grateful. I can see a difference since I started using this. Also, it soaks in nicely so you don't go to bed with a shiny face

alba jasmine & vitamin E moisture cream (from Alba Botanica): I usually go for unscented creams, but this one smells so nice with its subtle jasmine (from the real plant!). Texture is rich, but silky and easy to apply. It's intended for dry or mature skin. For me it's a little heavy for a day cream, but perfect for night.

miracle worker miraculous anti-aging moisturizer (from Philosophy): Nice and creamy, but it irritated my skin. By morning, my skin was quite red. Now remember, I have very sensitive skin. So for those of you who are not bothered by most things, you might not have this reaction.

alba sea lipids daily cream advanced: Love it. Thick, but absorbs well. I'm using it at night as a neck cream.
